nyc >> montreal

so i'm in Montreal now. went to a great show by the Dears last night. also impressed by the opening band, the Bernard Lakes. back to the sketches and ukulele.

Owen Pallett (aka Final Fantasy) was amazing. just the sound he gets from only one person. looping samples as he creates them by singing into pickup, playing strings w/ back of bow, hitting the violin body and whatever else.

no Anna here but big D was good enough

just another page

at the MetropolitanMuseum of New York. not sure if i got title on left correct.

the Grates at the Mercury Lounge. who were suported by the Lovely Feathers. both put on a great, great show. me being involved in crowd in between some songs for the Grates catch them if you can :)

i didn't really see spiderman but... it is NYC

nyc

New York City. what a place. so far been kept busy the whole time. eating at great place's (Balthazar and Sea among others). seeing great places and shops (bought myself a pair of boots). and seeing shows and ntertainement (Australia v Croatia game YES!!! Final Fantasy last night at Tonic, simply a genius that Owen). hanging w/ germa... i mean friends is cool (some of you may get that)

me on the harmonica, Simon singing and Andrew on 'Anna'. at hotel room w/ this view:

ended up staying at the Marriott Marquis for two nights thanks to Simon (ie. free). view was straight out onto times square. buzzing place. also went to a comedy club one night, 'HA!'

at times square w/ 'Anna', had seen the naked cowgirl just a few minutes earlier but couldn't find her for a pose w/ 'Anna'

went to a Toshi party, 'the swedish party' on the friday. amazing place and night. topless waitresses there w/ painted swedish flags and flowers. great adventure getting back to Jersey City w/ Simon afterwards. sketchy...

portugal

most of my time in Portugal was spent w/ family and friends. not much sightseeing this time.

playing soccer in Palhaca w/ some friends. notice the great golden jersey i am wearing.
Australia was playing Brazil that day. deserved something from game.

the youngest family member. Afonso at just a few weeks old.

and my grandad Manuel Martins.
parents and some family friends always say i am like him in mannerisms and looks.
take it as a massive compliment.

if you can read the bottom half of writing. it was a funny story the Robert Indiana pieces looked cool. you´d surely know the LOVE piece.

markets to oxford

no updates for a few days. VIP at Koko's on friday. then out on saturday and day at the markets on sunday with Claudette and Kim where i saw a store with the coolest name. see below. then met with Vince and just hung at this pub called Vibe. cool little beer garden, well packed at least.
Oxford was yesterday, drove there w/ Vince and Kim and just hung out all day. loads of drunk graduating students and found a pub hidden away through tiny little alleys. girl there was smashed! with glitter in her hair and drinking straight from the champagne bottle. visited the carfax there and some colleges. well. we tried anyway but they were all closed due to exams. except Vince just walked straight past the signs and Kim and I just hung back giggling and staying outside. only one we tried a security guard started walking towards us and we just turned towards exit and walked out. laughing.

drawn at Luke's at 4:55 am after seeing some bands at Koko's. Cazals and Dolorosos. got VIP entry thanks to Luke and then hung out till 9:30 am w/ him, Tom and Matt. cool guys.

saturday we saw Zero7 at the Empire in Shepherds bush. great night w/ Vince, Claudette, Kim, Ian and Joven. then we had salted hot beef and hung out for a while.

at Oxford w/ Kim and Vince... and the Ukulele
